The internet is full of epic adventure stories from all corners of the earth. From hiking in Southern America, to diving in the Maldives, to exploring exciting foreign cities. It seems everyone is out there doing something amazing, whilst you’re stuck in your daily routine.
Yet in reality, you don’t have to fly to the other side of the world to add adventure to your every day life…
Get Up Early
What’s that extra half an hour in bed really going to achieve anyway? Sure it’s warm and comfy, but seeing an epic sunrise or catching the dawn chorus before the crowds fill the streets surely has its draws.
“There’s a sunrise and sunset every day. You can choose to be there for it. You can put yourself in the way of beauty.” – Cheryl Strayed
Take Your Camera
This can really help with finding beauty in the smallest details of your life. The little things are often overlooked, but if you task yourself with taking one photo a day, the natural beauty of the world around you will become more and more apparent.
“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it” – Confucius
Live As If You’re A Visitor
When you’re on holiday it’s easy to get up and make the most of your day, knowing you’ve only got so long before you have to leave. If you bring this attitude back home with you, you’ll get so much more out of each day.
“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.” – Charles Richards
Take Short Trips
Finding adventure in your life doesn’t start with booking a plane ticket to Thailand, it starts by walking out of your front door and exploring the world that’s right under your nose. Break out of your everyday surroundings once in a while, even if it’s just a 30 minute drive out of town.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” – Helen Keller
Find Others Who Want To Do It To
Last, but as far as I’m concerned most important, is finding people with the same attitude to life. If you surround yourself with others who want to make the most out of life, you will naturally find yourself doing so too.
“Surround yourself with the people who make you the best version of yourself.” – Unknown, maybe me.
As Steve Furtick so rightfully put it, “The reason we struggle with our insecurities is that we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reels.”
Just because you’re not on a beach in the Caribbean, doesn’t mean you can’t have an epic day.
